BIOGRAPHY
All my life I have been interested in drawing and painting. It was not until my youngest daughter, Gini, graduated from high school, that I recognized I could pursue this hidden life long passion. Taking Gini on a tour of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD), Gini said to me “If you like this school so much why don’t you go to it?”. I spent the next five years at MCAD studying painting, drawing and visual arts. Under a grant from MCAD I studied art in Europe for three months and completed an internship with Helmut Lohr and Harriet Bart in Germany. In 1995 I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from MCAD. Since then I have been painting.
I prefer to work in my own sense of space and quiet. As my artistic style and sense of home solidified, I developed an appreciation for working in the solace of country life. For several years my husband and I owned an old farm site in western Wisconsin that we used as a weekend getaway. We refurbished the 1874 log house and remodeled a portion of the barn into an art studio with northern light and an inspiring view of a lake. After living in Minneapolis for twenty years we left the frenetic life of the city and made the farm our permanent home in 1995. Today I do most of my painting in my studio. It has become "my place", "my space". Each day this familiar, secure environment fosters my creativity.
